What are you doing for 2011?

We recently spoke to a number of people about what the organisations they represent will be doing to celebrate 2011.

Sam Cairns - Museums, Libraries, Archives, London.

Sally Gallimore - BSL Bible Translation Project

I am here today as a representative of the British Sign Language Bible Translation Project.

I am very interested in the work of the 2011 Trust especially as they plan to celebrate 400 years of the existence of the English translation of the Bible which came to existence under the command of King James who had wanted the people of England to read the Bible for themselves.

Deaf people want to have equality of access to the Bible too in their own language, so in 2011 the British Sign Language Bible Translation Project team hope to launch the BSL translation of the Gospel of Mark during the national celebrations of the 400th anniversary of KJV of the English Bible.

David Souden - Historic Royal Palaces

Bill Stokoe and Anthony Roberts - Abbots Hospital, Guilford

Richard Fisher - Bible Reading Fellowship

“The King James Bible remains a unique monument of scholarship, devotion and imagination, which has a crucial place in our common life. I wish you well in your efforts to make the celebrations of the 2011 anniversary a fitting tribute”.

The Rt Hon and Rt Revd Dr Rowan Williams, Archbishop of Canterbury
